Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra Cheltenham Town Hall FOR their end-of-term pre-Christmas musical offering, the Orchestra included some seasonal music, and were joined by the combined choirs from the county's music centres. The orchestra began the concert with a well- prepared performance of Mussorgsky's A Night on the Bare Mountain'. Tediously unsubtle in Rimsky-Korsakov's revised version, the full orchestra nevertheless seized the opportunity to display their prowess. Their five trumpets, though, were surely a luxury beyond even his wildest dreams.

Later, the strings performed Samuel Barber's Adagio and their playing was refined and flexible.
