Why, in the last 20 years did Gloucester City Council do nothing to protect homes from being flooded, especially in places where the flood defences were deficient?
When Trier Way was built in the 1980's, the culverting was designed to conform to a 1-in-100-year rainfall flood protection plan. It envisaged using the park and cricket pitch as a storage basin. To complete the barrier, and maximise the capacity of the flood basin, the stream wall to the south of the Sud Brook in Weston Road had to be raised to the same height as Parkend Road and Trier Way. This work was never completed. The result was that the Sud Brook broke it's banks and flooding occurred.See the full content of this document
