Summary


After 25 years waiting, I am usually reconciled that romantic poetry will not theme conversations in bus queues. But in The Citizen (September 1), we read that a new pub in Eastgate Street shall be named after John Taylor, the water poet, who attended Crypt Grammar School in the late 16th Century.

After a spell in the Navy, he earned a living by ferrying theatre- goers across the Thames to the south bank from Billingsgate.
