Summary

IF there's one thing that cheers us up after the demise of summer, it's Cheltenham Literature Festival. At WEEKEND, it's absolutely our favourite time of year. Where else in the world would you find domestic goddess Nigella Lawson, political comeback king Peter Mandelson, bonkbuster novelist Jilly Cooper and loudmouth comic Dom Joly on the same bill in the same town at the same time? Quite.

This year's line-up is better than ever, and we've been chatting to ex-GMTV sofa queen Fiona Phillips about her parents' battle with Alzheimer's, Grand Designs guru Kevin McCloud about his green credentials and Jenny Eclair, who talks hilariously about ways to cheer ourselves up. Elsewhere, we show you how to dress for the party season thanks to a trio of glamorous lettings ladies, eat at the fabulous Daffodil in Cheltenham and take a stroll around the gorgeous gardens at Hidcote Manor. Whether you're Lit Fest-ing or loafing this week, have a wonderful time and enjoy the magazine.
