THE recent birth of Marketing Gloucester should be a positive step for the city and already it has been proactive in the Gloucester Festival and other city-based events.

But is there now a scenario where key members of the Guildhall are now working for Marketing Gloucester, providing very similar services to what previously was managed via the Guildhall? This, to me, is sending out a message that the council is finally trying to drive the nail into the Guildhall's coffin, as I suspect, within a period of time, the Guildhall will be "not profitable enough" to keep in its current format.
