Summary
With the opening of the SW bypass great play has been made of the reduced traffic on the Bristol Road and the easier access to the city centre. My association has, since the inception of the western road, been critical of its success and its effects on that forgotten village of Hempsted.
For the next year the main access to the city will be via Llanthony Road and the lifting bridge. The current setting of the traffic lights at the Sir Colin Campbell junction allow eight cars to move into the city in approximately every 83 seconds provided the bridge is down.
