Summary
EXCITING young rock blues guitarist Chantel McGregor returns to Gloucester Guildhall later this month. There's been a buzz around Chantel - who appears on May 28 - since she became the youngest person in the country to pass a rock school exam at the age of eight. Star of the 2010 Skegness Rock and Blues Festival, Chantel has established herself as one of the most exciting rock blues guitarists in the country.
The young strummer inherited her love of the guitar from her dad and got her first instrument at the tender age of three. At seven she started lessons, but soon noticed that not only did the electric guitars have a smaller neck, making them ideal for little hands, but they could also make a lot more noise. At 12 she was jamming in her native Bradford and, after enrolling at Leeds College of Music, became the first student in its history to achieve a 100 per cent pass mark with 18 distinctions. Described as a "prodigy", at 14 she was told by major labels: "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!". She wisely ignored that advice.See the full content of this document
