JUST weeks before the Falklands War in 1982 Margaret Thatcher had become the most unpopular Prime Minister in history. Yet the following year she won the General Election. This history lesson has not been wasted on David Cameron.

His campaign for power is clearly restricting his vocal support for our forces in Afghanistan. We are only reading and hearing negative stories about the war coming out of a Cameron-friendly media. It is a credit to the editor of The Citizen that this paper is not playing that game. Nor it would seem are the British public who crowd the streets to support our marching troops.
