Summary


A SETTING sun, in the far West, going down, Beyond a redbrick structure, squat and round, That once had supported a railway turntable, Which now is the stuff of legend and fable, Where the Severn Railway Bridge did cross Before a sad disaster brought a tragic loss.

On 25th October 1960, a tragedy had occurred, Of which the salient facts cannot be demurred, When steaming up the Severn on a full high tide, Two Severn petrol oil tankers did heavily collide, In the impenetrable fog of that October night, The crews were unable to see the navigation light.
