THE extremities of the Forest District Council area are hinterlands for market centres beyond - Chepstow, Monmouth, Ross, and also Tewkesbury, which is not just a small town in an isolated loop of the Sever n.

This apparently remote town is a very successful colonial power, extending into areas far beyond its town boundaries, and colliding with the Forest unexpectedly somewhere close to Westbury. It also has tentacles around Gloucester and Cheltenham.
