Summary
STORY: Plans to change a city centre eyesore in to flats have been welcomed in Gloucester. In 2007 Newland Homes submitted plans to change the former Kwik Save site in Northgate Street into apartments. It shelved the plans as the housing market crashed but now the developer is keen to start again. COMMENT: "Why not build a car park on the roof ?" PABLO, GLOS COMMENT: "I find it really sad that so many people's lives revolve around the car and all that goes with it eg parking. We need fewer people using cars. I live without a car in Gloucester quite happily. The city is small enough that you can walk or cycle, there are lots of buses and on the odd occasion there is a taxi."
DAVID, GLOUCESTER COMMENT: "The residents of the new development with insufficient on-site parking could park illegally, but that wouldn't be advisable. But the wardens would certainly love issuing regular tickets in batches. Instead, they would have to get parking permits from the council and park in the nearest council-run car park.
