Bus pass anger STORY: PENSIONERS in Gloucester have hit out at plans to increase the entitlement age for free bus passes. The coalition Government has announced it will be pressing ahead with a planned increase in the entitlement age from 60 to 65 - sparking anger among Gloucestershire pensioners. Jenny Smith, of Hucclecote, said she and her husband Haydn relied on the bus passes, and slammed the decision to bring up the minimum age. COMMENT: "I think the comment 'We go to a lot of places by bus, like up to Tewkesbury, for a cup of tea,' sums it up. "We just can't afford to keep subsidising all these things. "I've seen OAPs all joining up on long-distance buses and trains, going miles three or four times a week. "Great, spend your money in Gloucester, then perhaps the cuts won't be so deep. "Nowhere in the article does it say that these people are on basic income and can't afford to go out. "Labour was going to increase the age, but now the Coalition know the real state of the books, they have to cut earlier. People are losing their jobs and their homes.

"These lucky people are just losing their jollys."
