Summary
SOME time ago, I wrote a poem called 'Bettle-Kinship' about those I had assumed were 'beetles' in my home. But I have since learned more: These nocturnal animals are woodlice, and the reason why they roam? Because conditions do not satisfy - when too dry! So on their fourteen little legs, they need bravely keep on walking - seeking water (even where they didn't oughter) - lest they die! With a long- life expectancy of four years, and a cluster of tiny eyes (merely discerning light and shade), their skeleton is like a snail's shell: Unlike our own beneath the skin, theirs - is outside-in! This gives them great protection - until outgrown and being shed.
Turned inside out like this leaves them extremely vulnerable while awaiting the hardening of their new armour plating!See the full content of this document
