Hayley has the 'Ground Force'!

Summary

THE landscape industry has a critical and leading role to play in the design, construction, management and maintenance of land across the UK. Whether it is the management of local parks, botanical or heritage gardens, the maintenance of sports grounds or the construction of domestic and public gardens, the skills needed are vital and affect people's daily lives, especially as so many have limited access to green spaces.

With garden design becoming an increasingly popular career choice, Horticulture Apprenticeships at Hartpury College are providing the skills to those wanting to pursue a career in the industry. Apprentices can enjoy a wealth of outstanding horticultural facilities and draw design inspiration from the historic Thomas Mawson gardens on campus. The gardens are named after the man who designed them, who started out as an apprentice himself and began designing gardens in 1890. Students can use the garden areas of the College, which provide an excellent resource for contemporary landscape projects.
