TODAY TO JANUARY 2, CHELTENHAM: Take a trip below the floorboards to another world in an enchanting new production. The Borrowers is playing on the stage of The Playhouse over Christmas and the new year. A world of miniature unfolds before the eyes of audiences, courtesy of county company Dreamshed Theatre.

Based upon the popular tale by Mary Norton, the adventures of the 'little people' Pod, Homily and Arrietty living a secret life underneath the floorboards is aimed at audiences of all ages. Directed by Sheila Mander, the set has been designed by the resourceful Mike Kingston, (pictured) who has trawled car boot sales for items he has then adapted for the production. Mike has carved a Champagne cork from polystyrene, created a string of pearls from children's playing balls and fashioned wasps' eyes from two old sieves.
