ANTI-SOCIAL moped and scrambler bike riders are the focus of daily patrols in Abbeymead in a bid to crack down on bad behaviour. After residents in Jasmine Close complained to police about noisy bikes travelling up and down alleyways linking Jasmine Close to The Richmonds, police decide to make it a priority. For the last month they have been patrolling it daily, but say that while the problem has reduced, it has also now moved from Jasmine Close to The Richmonds. In the latest incident, last week police were called to a report of around 10 youths drinking and throwing bottles to the ground in The Richmonds. But when police arrived there was no trace of them. PCSO Khim Mortimer said there had been 43 targeted patrols in the area since the beginning of November. She said: "We have been patrolling the area at least once a day since the priority came in, both on foot and by car in conjunction with the roads policing unit. "Any youngsters seen in the area have been spoken to and moved on to the green and, as a result, reports of anti-social behaviour have reduced."
"However, we are concerned about the use of off-road bikes and de- restricted vehicles being used in an anti-social way and we would remind people that if they are causing a nuisance they will be dealt with."See the full content of this document
