Summary


The NHS recommends that men should not regularly exceed three to four units per day; and women should not regularly exceed two to three units per day. A regular strength pint contains 2-3 units, a small glass of wine is 1.5 units, and a single measure of spirits contains 1 unit.

The cost of alcohol-related harm to the NHS is estimated to be 2.7 billion a year.
