Post Box Is Stolen

STORY: RESIDENTS have been left baffled after their only post box in the village was stolen. The George VI post box, was taken from Brooms Green near Dymock on Monday night. COMMENT: "Why would you steal a post box?" CHRIS, GLOUCESTER COMMENT: "Because its metal. It can be sold as scrap metal and this can be used in pubs, on fags, in the betting shop and in fast food outlets. End of story."

Play Away at Our New Muga

IT'S playtime in Matson after a new youth facility officially opened. The line markings have now been painted on the Multi Use Games Area (Muga) in Red Well Road, which was the final step in completing the project. Building the Muga was made possible after Gloucester City Council secured a Big Lottery grant of Pounds 48,000 to create the new open- access teen facility in Matson.

Car Fire at Pub

FIREFIGHTERS from Gloucester were called to deal with a car on fire at the Musket pub car park in Windsor Drive, Tuffley, yesterday morning. The fire was reported at 5.19am. It took fire crews 30 minutes to extinguish.

Busy Road Set to Be Reopened

THE A4136 at Staunton will finally reopen to traffic on Friday after a month of disruption. The busy road, which links Coleford to Monmouth, has been closed to allow resurfacing work to take place. The road was reopened briefly last week to allow access to Monmouth Show.

Supermarket Wants Signs

PLANS to install three nonilluminated 'totem' style signs at Sainsbury's supermarket in the Gloucester Quays have been submitted to Gloucester City Council. The proposals will be considered by the authority's planning department.
